Super healthy apple pie recipe. Easy to make, low calorie and flour free!

At any season of the year, we should make use of the best locally grown raw materials that nature has to offer. Right now in Zurich autumn time is coming and this means that some tasty apples are ripening.


You don't have to be a master baker to bake this easy apple pie, which is also very healthy. This is a recipe that anyone can handle and one slice of this "fit" pie contains only 146 kcal. Let's see what you need for it.. it won't be flour or sugar!

To prepare this healthy apple pie you will need:

  • Three apples

  • Two teaspoons of cinnamon

  • Three eggs

  • Baking soda

  • Oatmeal 170g

  • Handful pitted chopped dates

  • Natural yoghurt 200g (Preferably one that has probiotic bacteria as it reacts with the baking soda)

Getting all the ingredients shouldn't be a problem for you. Shops like Migros and Coop are full with local produce from around Zurich and the rest of Switzerland. Of course, good quality home-grown apples would be best.



Instructions:


1. Clean two of the apples, grate them and put them in a bowl, where you will gradually add the other ingredients.

2. Add 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, mix and then add 3 eggs (ideally free range) and half a teaspoon of baking soda. Mix well.


3. To make the healthy "dough", add 170g of oats and use dates instead of sugar. Choose good quality dates, as they have to be sweet to replace the sugar.


4. Add the 200 grams of yoghurt mixed with another half a teaspoon of baking soda.

5. Grease a baking tray of your choice and layer it with half of our healthy mixture. Place apple slices on top and add the rest of the mixture. Decorate the top with apples and dates if you have left.

6. Bake 40 minutes at 170°C and let the apple pie cool a bit before serving.

7. If you like, serve it with low-calorie whipped cream or pour a bit of honey on top if your pie didn't turn out sweet enough. Here is a video of the Super healthy low calorie apple pie recipe on YouTube.
